I am a list maker. My old boss used to tease me that I could single handed keep "Post-its" in business. The reason for it? If I don't write it down, I forget it. I have a terrible memory.
So I have lists for many things, and sticky notes on our garage door in the kitchen to remind me of the projects that need to be done.
I started a list of things that I never wanted to forget to tell Lil' Buddy when he is old enough to understand. I thought I would share some of these with you today. (Mom- just a warning- you are going to need tissues!)
1. We prayed from the beginning of our journey that we would somehow just know when our little miracle entered this world. He was born December 6, 2009. This would have been December 5th here. On December 5th, Steve and I were shopping in K*ohl's and I was suddenly almost manic that I HAD to find a "Babies First Christmas - 2009" Ornament. In our reality, and the timing of when we should have gotten a referral, there was no way. Our baby should not have been born until at least February. Low and behold - He was born that night. (just a note, he was 8 weeks early, and his birth mother was due in February.)
2. Our dear friend's little girl calls him "Korea". (She is not quite 3) As in, "I want to go see Korea today". This made me laugh.
3. Another friend, whose daughter was born in Korea, can't wait to read to our little man.
4. A blanket made by dear friends of ours was prayed over while it was made. When each knot on the blanket was tied, a prayer was said for us, for Lil' Bud, and our adoption. (This made me cry a whole lot when I found out, so so so glad that I didn't read this part of the card at the shower, because I would still be sitting there crying)
5. Certain songs remind me of our sweet little one, and I cannot help but cry when I hear them. "Smile" by Uncle Kracker, "This is Home" by Switchfoot, "Something Beautiful" by Need to Breath to name a few. Not a problem when I am home, but when they come on the radio, or we sing them at church (Note: The Uncle Kracker one is NOT from church!!!!) it usually leaves me in puddles.
6. We prayed a LOT for him to have a great foster family - and he does. I could not ask for more than what they provide him!
7. His cousins J and M cleaned out toys to give to him. As in "We can get rid of this, Lil' Buddy will like it". (The oldest is 6, so this is a feat!)
8. We prayed we would be able to answer the questions he will have about why he was placed for adoption, and we have more information than we ever thought we would on this.
9. Another friend's little girl (who is 4) looks at his picture and says "Isn't he precious" just like her Mommy does.
10. Most of all, I never, ever, ever want him to forget that more than we, or his family here, or his family in Korea loves him, God loves him. That God has gone before him in every step of our adoption. That God holds him so tightly in His hands... and always will.
They don’t come any prettier than this

This is beautiful! Keep the list going! You have so many wonderful things to tell him. My favorite is the blanket that was prayed over...
